BEIRUT, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Lebanese Armed Forces issued a statement on Saturday saying that it launched anti-aircraft defense fire toward an Israeli drone violating Lebanese air space, the official National News Agency reported.

The statement said the plane was fired by anti-aircraft units stationed on the coast of Jbeil, a city in South Lebanon, when it was flying at a medium altitude. It proceeded to leave Lebanese airspace shortly after the fire.

The statement did not give further details of the incident.

Lebanon accuses Israel of violating Lebanese air space on a daily basis with its manned and unmanned aircraft, but before this time Lebanon could do nothing except protests.
