Hajj Hassan: Lebanese –Syrian Security Linked

MP Hussein Hajj Hassan said: "Lebanon and Syria are neighboring brotherly states joined by various interests." Adding "any cooperation in all fields between them is positive and needed."

Following his meeting with Prime Minister Fouad Saniora on Tuesday Hassan said" Lebanese –Syrian security are linked in one way or another. There are geographical, border and common links that bind us. Hence, it is in the interest of Lebanon and Syria to cooperate in all fields."

Hassan went on to explain "this specialty is for the cabinet and the minister of Interior."

Hassan who headed a parliamentary delegation from Baalbak and Hormel to the grand serail discussed development issues important to the region with Prime Minister Saniora.

Earlier on Tuesday Prime Minister Saniora received the head of the United Nations International Independent Investigation Commission (UNIIIC) investigating the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, Judge Daniel Bellemare, who detailed his progress and preparations for launching the International Tribunal.

Saniora also headed a meeting with Finance Minister Mohammed Shatah, Central Bank Governor Riyad Salameh.
