Kataeb leader Amin Gemayel said that the Friday elections for student government at Notre Dame and St. Joseph Universities were an important event because student represented the nation’s conscious, and the elections allowed the youth to express their views away from traditional politics.”

After meeting with winning students at NDU, who, like Gemayel were aligned with March 14 on Saturday, Gemayel said that he hoped the elections were an indication of how the 2009 parliamentary elections would turn out.

“What happened was a special and definitive message as to what the Lebanese youth want; they who seek a free Lebanon, in line with the cedar revolution, and they refuse to follow any axis,” he said.
