CAIRO, March 5 (KUNA) -- A delegation representing the Lebanese parlaiment majority conferred here with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit.

The delegation grouped Samir Jisr and Mustafa Hashim of the Future bloc, Akram Shuhaib of the Democratic Gathering bloc, Antoine Zahra of the Lebanese Forces bloc and Elyas Abdullah of the Leftist Democrats.

According to an Egyptian Foreign Ministry statement, the Lebanese politicians briefed Abul Gheit with the position of the majority lawmakers which supports the Arab peace initiative.

The Lebanese legislators told Abul Gheit of the majority's committment to the initiative, pointing out that the political crisis in Lebanon was no longer an internal affair rather a danger threatening the Arab region in general, according to the statement.

On the upcoming session of the Lebanese parliament on March 11 during which it is scheduled that a president would be elected, the deputies expressed hope that the election takes place. However, they noted there were not positive indications in this regard, according to the statement. (end) az.bz.
