Only a full implementation of UNSCR 1559 can stop the violence in Lebanon

Dr Walid Phares, an advisor to lawmakers, told Mideast Newswire and as Siyasa that "the explosion in Beirut's southern suburb if anything, shows that only the full implementation of UNSCR 1559, that is disarming all militias including the Salafi Jihadist and Hezbollah and the deployment of the Lebanese Army and security forces can stop the violence in Lebanon." Phares said "as we stated many times earlier, today Lebanon lives under the threat of violence by al Qaeda linked groups and the Iranian regime linked groups. Both terror networks have to be disarmed and dismantled to protect the civilian population of Lebanon."
