Solange Gemayel Vows to Resist those Seeking to Drag Lebanon into Crisis

Solange Gemayel Vows to Resist those Seeking to Drag Lebanon into Crisis

On the 27th anniversary of President-elect Bashir Gemayel's assassination, her widow vowed not to let anyone drag Lebanon into a new crisis and bring back the era of hegemony.

"We reject dragging Lebanon into a new crisis that takes it backwards and brings back malicious foreign hands to tamper with it anew," Solange Gemayel told a crowd following a mass held at the Miracle Icon Cathedral in Ashrafiyeh.

She also accused the opposition of obstructing the building of the state, saying "its slogan is the right to force and ours is the force of right."

"The other team is deliberately obstructing the building of the state to prevent it from extending its sovereignty and freedom on all its territories," she said as the crowd waving Phalange and Lebanese Forces flags chanted pro-Bashir slogans.

Solange Gemayel sat at the front row of the memorial service for her husband, who perished with 22 associates in a 1982 bomb blast in Ashrafiyeh just 20 days after his election for Lebanon's presidency and only two weeks before his swearing-in ceremony.

Mrs. Gemayel was flanked by her son MP Nadim, daughter Yumna, and her husband's elder brother, ex-President Amin Gemayel, his wife and son MP Sami.

Several other officials, party leaders and dignitaries attended the mass.

Bachir Gemayel's 27th mass

16:32
In the anniversary of martyrdom of late Bashir Gemayel, it’s necessary to renew our faith, because his soul is not dead, and his positions did not and won’t abolish.

In his Speech, Bishop abou Jaoude stressed that Bashir and his fellow martyrs weren’t greater than their master. Bashir carried his cross and his daughter Maya Cross too and followed his master, and then Pierre Gemayel and the caravan of noble martyrs is long and takes the glory of Lebanon.

He pointed out that “We appreciate Bashir’s faith and attachment to Lebanon and its privacy. Bashir was not afraid to die as sacrifice to Lebanon.” He added that Gemayel’s family are keen regarding the urge to Lebanon rising and the unity of the Lebanese

Exclusive   Speech of Mrs. Solange Bashir Gemayel on the anniversary of 14 September 2009

Mrs. Gemayel pointed out that many of those who were around Bashir stood and did not change. But some implemented change and changed, capsized and denied the principles and values, and some considered themselves the salvation. However, the steadfast and loyal to his principles have been representing the vast majority.

Mrs. Gemayel added:" Bashir fought and died in order for the rise of a strong and unified country.
We went through political and electoral battles in order to install the right of the state and activate its constitutional institutions.

Before and after 7 June, Patriarch Sfeir warned us against the other partys succeed, to not hamper the process of the states restoration of its authority and powers and its role.

What were going through today is a deliberate disruption of the state, to prevent the extent of its sovereignty and freedom on the whole 10452 km 2."

Mrs. Gemayel emphasized that they have disrupted the constitutional institutions, starting by the parliament for several months, then the Council of Ministers, and occupied down towns streets to subjugate us and compensate the withdrawal of Syrian troops, and they disrupted the presidential election to dump the first presidency.

But Lebanons citizens said their word and the Cedar Revolution triumphed again on 7 June, and March 14 declined of hampering the parliamentary elections. They responded to such a positive step by disrupting the government formation.

Mrs. Gemayel added "after all, arent we entitled to ask why the force of arms recess and create void for months and months when it comes to the first presidency?

Why the force of arms disrupt the mission of the Prime Minister Designate for months and months when it comes to the establishment of a Lebanese national government,?

Why, when it comes to the second presidency: the Parliament, the mission is accomplished within hours rather than hampering for months and months?"

Mrs Gemayel concluded:"So I say on your behalf and on behalf of the overwhelming Lebanese majority: We will not allow dragging "Lebanon into a new crisis to drag our country back forward and to bring back hegemony.
