BEIRUT: US President Barack Obama told Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in a message on Tuesday that he was looking forward to enhancing bilateral ties between Beirut and Washington. Obama thanked Berri for congratulating him following his assuming office last month.

"I appreciate your message and I am confident that we can work together with a spirit of peace and friendship to build a more secure world in the coming four years," Obama's message read. "With this spirit and effort, I look forward to working with you to bolster relations between our two nations."
