US Congressional delegation arrives in Beirut
December 13, 2008

A delegation from the United States Congress, led by Representative Gary Ackerman, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia, arrived in Lebanon to meet with Lebanese officials and discuss the Lebanese and regional situation before President-elect Barack Obama is inaugurated.

American Ambassador to Lebanon Michelle Sison received the delegation at Rafik Hariri International Airport. The delegation included ten Congressmen.

BEIRUT - U.S. Congressional delegation headed by Gary Ackerman following his meeting with President Suleiman on Saturday said that, “Lebanon’s future is not for sale and the Lebanese army deserves the support of the international community”.

On the other hand Ackerman also met with Chief of Armed Forces General Jean Qahwaji and discussed the U.S. aid to the Lebanese Armed Forces.
