A scanner to monitor the Lebanon-Syria border crossing was being installed, the daily An Nahar reported Thursday.

It said that Lebanese as well as German custom officers supervised the field work as the device was being set up at the Masnaa crossing on Wednesday.

Germany has been helping the Lebanese government with securing borders and enhancing its sovereignty by providing equipment and training to immigration officials.

Scanners are expected to be installed at all borders across Lebanon that would replace the manual inspections.
