OUR DESTINY IS TO LIVE TOGETHER!

The Lebanon fought a Civil war - when Syria occupied it - for 15 years. And the Lebanese learned a tough lesson - that at the end of the day, no one side gained any ground, no one side won, but the entire nation lost. At the end of the day we were all just shooting ourselves in the foot. We learned this lesson the hard way. At the culmination of the war the Lebanese learned that the Common Ground between all Peoples in the Region is much more than any differences we might have and that Our Destiny is to Live Together. (These thoughts from the Late PM Rafic Hariri). God Bless the Lebanon. Editor Cedars Revolution News.

 WASHINGTON
President George W. Bush met Thursday with Amin Gemayel, a former president of Lebanon.

"We'll be demonstrating U.S. commitment to a sovereign and democratic Lebanon, and express sympathy, again, on behalf of the president and the American people for the assassination of Mr. Gemayel's son, Pierre Gemayel," White House press secretary Tony Snow said.

Amin Gemayel said in an interview broadcast Sunday he did not know who was responsible for the killing of his son, the country's industry minister, who was assassinated in November.

But he accused Syria of plotting a coup d'etat against the government of Prime Minister Fuad Saniora.

Thank You George W. Bush and the People of the United States of America for Supporting Freedom and Democracy in Lebanon - Together We Can Make a Difference!

Lebanon is at a crossroad today - the majority of the Lebanese support Democracy in the Lebanon. The Lebanese are looking for continued support to see this follow through to the culmination of a true Democracy in Lebanon that respects a pluralistic multiethnic nation. A nation with One State, One Army, One Democracy.

The Lebanon is different from Iraq because - The Lebanon fought a Civil war - when Syria occupied it - for 15 years. And the Lebanese learned a tough lesson - that at the end of the day, no one side gained any ground, no one side won, but the entire nation lost. We learned this lesson the hard way. At the culmination of the war the Lebanese learned that the Common Ground between all Peoples in the Region is much more than any differences we might have and that Our Destiny is to Live Together. Hezbollah receives SA-18 missiles from Syria

NICOSIA [MENL] - The Iranian-sponsored Hezbollah has received SA-18 surface-to-air missiles from Syria.

Lebanese opposition sources said Hezbollah received the Russian-origin SA-18 from Syria in late 2006. The sources said the anti-aircraft missile systems were being concealed in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley near the Syrian border.

"Hezbollah intends to significantly increase its anti-aircraft capabilities for any future war with Israel," an opposition source, with contacts in the Lebanese Army, said.

Hezbollah deployed SA-7 anti-aircraft systems during the war against Israel in mid-2006. But the sources said the SA-7 was ineffective against high-flying Israeli aircraft, equipped with counter-measures.

Today's Quote

President George W. Bush

All those who seek a peaceful, constitutional solution to the crisis in Lebanon deserve the support of the international community, but those responsible for creating chaos must be called to account. While Lebanon's friends seek to help the Lebanese government build a free, sovereign, and prosperous country, Syria, Iran, and Hizballah are working to destabilize Lebanese society. Their goals are clear. They foment violence in order to prevent the establishment of a Special Tribunal in response to former Prime Minister Hariri's assassination, to prevent full implementation of U.N. Security Council resolutions calling for Hizballah's disarmament, and to bring down Lebanon's democratically elected government, in violation of its constitution. The United States will continue to support Lebanon's government as it seeks a peaceful and prosperous future for all the people of Lebanon. (January 29, 2007)

For His Part, Mufti Of Mount Lebanon Sheikh Mohamad Ali Jouzou
Described the recent incidents in Lebanon as a conspiracy. He added that those who were behind it were trying to slide Lebanon back to the atmophere of the war and Syrian tutelage. In a interview with a Kuwaity Television in Kuwait, the Mufti stressed that closing roads and hampering the political and economic life was unacceptable as no democratic country in the world has observed a strike for 60 days.
