President Bush Disappointed by Recent Violence in Lebanon
For Immediate Release Office of the Press Secretary January 29, 2007
I am deeply disappointed by the recent violence and bloodshed on the streets of Lebanon. It is all the more troubling that the violence occurred while Lebanon's legitimate leaders and friends were gathered together in Paris to help secure a peaceful and prosperous future for the country. Lebanon's friends have pledged a total of $7.6 billion at the International Conference on Support for Lebanon. I will ask Congress for $770 million to contribute to this cause. With this pledge, total U.S. support for Lebanon since last summer's conflict, including the $230 million pledged at the Stockholm conference last August, will equal approximately $1 billion. This is a strong symbol of the American people's support for and commitment to the future of Lebanon.
All those who seek a peaceful, constitutional solution to the crisis in Lebanon deserve the support of the international community, but those responsible for creating chaos must be called to account. While Lebanon's friends seek to help the Lebanese government build a free, sovereign, and prosperous country, Syria, Iran, and Hizballah are working to destabilize Lebanese society. Their goals are clear. They foment violence in order to prevent the establishment of a Special Tribunal in response to former Prime Minister Hariri's assassination, to prevent full implementation of U.N. Security Council resolutions calling for Hizballah's disarmament, and to bring down Lebanon's democratically elected government, in violation of its constitution. The United States will continue to support Lebanon's government as it seeks a peaceful and prosperous future for all the people of Lebanon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hizbullah Founder Tufaili Lashes Out at Nasrallah, Iran
Hizbullah founder and ex leader Sheikh Subhi Tufaili on Saturday accused Iran of stirring trouble between Shiites and Sunnis to destroy both Iraq and Lebanon, urging Shiites to mend fences with the majority Sunni sect.
Tufaili at a news conference said Shiites are "small minorities scattered in the vast sea of the Islamic world. It is in their interest to be allies for the majority and to mend fences with Sunnis."
"Otherwise, we will destroy even our future… this is crazy…we'll be slaughtered like sheep even in Lebanon. This is a reality.
He said Iran's spiritual leader Ali Khamenei has a dual policy. "In Iraq, he destroys Iraq under the slogan of alliance with America and in Lebanon he destroys Lebanon under the slogan that says the Sunnis are the allies of America."
He stressed Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is the person who carries out Khamenei's policy.
I am an ex-secretary general for Hizbullah and I know that Sayyed Hassan is in charge of carrying Sayyed Khamenei's policy in Lebanon. Sayyed Abdul Aziz al Hakim is the person who executes Khamenei's policy in Iraq."
He accused Hizbullah, of which he was fired more than eight years ago after disagreeing with the Iranian leadership, of forming its own state in Lebanon and "the resistance is its weapon."
"There cannot be two states and two weapons, that of Hizbullah and that of the government. We need to unify the weapons under one command. Two states would lead to war," he said.

The muftis stressed the need for the return of life to the legislative institution, and therefore call for the convening of a special session of the Chamber of Deputies to keep and what was achieved by the Lebanese government in this conference. The muftis leaders praised the invitation to withdraw demonstrators from the center of Beirut and streets, and confirm that the continuation of these protests is not disruptive to the economic cycle, but because it has become a catalyst for instability as well. The muftis follow closely the situation can only praise the constructive role played by the Lebanese army on all Lebanese territories, particularly able to stop the deterioration, confirming once again that the fence of the nation and guarantee stability. Muftis call on officials to abandon the language of escalation and return to dialogue as the only way to resolve any pending issues ".

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Nasrallah Butros Sfeir
The Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Nasrallah Butros Sfeir, said that what happened in Paris indicates that the countries of the world, especially France, we are more aware of our country and the extent of the value ignore the reckless, and agility, and awareness. He added in a sermon Sunday Mass from Bkirki, that what we experienced on Tuesday and Thursday of last week, the principles of human dignity and the homeland. Patriarch Sfeir asked God to restore the Lebanese to the right path, they turn their country Square fratricidal struggle, rather than to be an area of freedom, love and mutual respect.
Al-Mufti of Mount Lebanon, Sheikh Mohammad Ali Al JouZou said that the "events of Tuesday and Thursday are a great shame for Lebanon and the Lebanese. It is irresponsible and provocative, and the blood that is the blood of our children.

This saves Lebanon. "

Geagea Press Conference
Geagea, speaking at a press conference north of Beirut, issued a warning to Hezbollah chief Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah: 'The government of premier Fouad Seniora will not fall by force, and if these attempts continue, there will be a civil war in the country.'
He added: 'I know Nasrallah has no intention to reach a civil war, so I propose these actions be dropped and (we) resort to democratic practices like a dialogue among leaders.'
Audio: Part 1 - Part 2 right-mouse click - save-as Addressing the Opposition and Sayyad Nasarallah - "If you proceed with your protest through democratic means it wouldn't lead you to achieving results because you cannot alter the balance of power."
"If you go beyond democratic means, that would lead you to civil war in which, also, you will not achieve your declared objective," Geagea added.
He said the attempt on Tuesday by the Hizbullah-led opposition to block roads "was the beginning of a coup to be carried out by the opposition throughout Lebanon."
Such an alleged coup, Geagea said, "failed because the Lebanese forces intervened and reopened roads."
He set the basis for a deal between anti and pro government factions, telling Nasrallah: "You want to change the government and we want to change the president" Emile Lahoud.
"Let's sit and talk," Geagea added.
Geagea also lashed out at Gen. Michael Aoun, saying His Free Patriotic Movement was trying to carry out a plot in cooperation with Hizbullah and other factions of the opposition to "topple the regime" in Lebanon.
That plot, Geagea stressed, was "foiled by the Lebanese Forces … that is why they called off the move in order to re-plan and repeat what they have started doing, but couldn't complete."
"If they repeat the attempt we'll interfere again," Geagea pledged. "Lebanon was facing a real threat on Tuesday."
At least eight people were reported killed and more than 300 wounded in violence between pro and anti-government factions on Tuesday and Thursday. (Naharnet)

Syrian/Palestinian Snipers - Shooting at both Opposition and Government - Meant to Start Civil War - Arrested
The army was reported to have arrested two snipers who were shooting at both pro and anti-government mobs in Beirut on Thursday.
Tripoli had a sniper shooting on the people.
Witnesses that there were snipers over the building surrounding the campus of BAU opening their fire on the people especially from the opposition camp and the army.
Shocking and Disbelief that any Responsible Leader would go to this Extreme.
Credibility of the Iranian Backed "Opposition" Exposed.
Aoun displays pictures in Press Conference and on his website that were doctored up to allege that the Lebanese Forces were opening up fire on the Lebanese Army.
Photo showing what Aoun says is a Lebanese Forces Fighter firing on the Army.
Original Photo - Not Doctored Up!
Photo of what Aoun Claims is a Lebanese Forces Solder - is really taken from a British Guardians Newspaper issued last summer. Photo was shown in the Guardian on July 17, 2006. The Guardian issue said that this is really a Hezbollah Solder firing on Kfarshima village during the Summer War.
Clearly someone used Adobe Photoshop to cut out the picture of the Summer Solder and Insert it in the top photo from last week.

Another Attempt of the Iranian Backed "Opposition" to spread disinformation - Credibility, Trustworthiness in Question?
On the Free Patriotic Movement (Aoun's Tayyar) Website's mainpage they posted a picture of a person being arrested by a soldier. The picture shows a man carrying a Lebanese Forces flag and being blocked by the army.. wrong again!
Tayyar twisted the original photo and added the Lebanese Forces flag in their propaganda war on the Lebanese Forces. You can see the real photo which was taken from Reuters and posted below.
After posting this article and emailing the pictures to thousands of users, Tayyar finally decided to change the fake picture(s) from their main page, no apologies were given by Aoun, The Iranian Backed "Opposition" or Tayyar Website.
Commentary on The Recent Actions of the Opposition
The recent actions of the Iranian Backed "Opposition", and the actions of doctoring of photos is having an enormous effect on the Respect and Credibility of the Iranian Backed "Opposition", Aoun, His Movement, and the future of Responsible people in positions of government protecting the Future of the Lebanese. Especially since the Feb. 14, 2005 Assassination on Former PM Rafic Hariri - when One Million Five Hundred Thousand Lebanese took to the street demanding THE TRUTH.
The question one must ask - how can Aoun insult the Lebanese People with these fake and doctored up photos? The Iranian Backed "Opposition" seems to have reached a point of Desperation, a last attempt at fooling the Lebanese Populous. This of course will not work, for the Lebanese - in their search for the truth - will always find it, and the image of the Iranian Backed "Opposition" as a credible trustworthy partner is tarnished. The Lebanese - seeking Freedom, Democracy and Independence are bewildered at these government partners.
Neither Fake Doctored Up Photos, Malicious Talk, Calls for Rioting, Calls for Closing the Roads of the lifeline of the Lebanese Civilians, Intimidations, Killings, Assassinations, or even 100,000 Rockets is going to be successful for the intention of Iran / Syria and the Iranian Backed and Iranian Funded "Opposition" in suppressing the Majority Lebanese People seeking Freedom and Democracy. The Lebanese are fed up with being manipulated. Fed up with the Intimidations, Not having the ability to speak freely without being intimidated, Fed up with every nation wanting to control the future of Lebanon, Fed up with some Lebanese that can be bought and serve the interests of themselves and foreign nations, Fed up with the Syrian Government's undermining of our democracy, supplying weapons and orders to groups in Lebanon while circumventing the popularly elected Democratic Government of PM Siniora, Fed up with Iran for it manipulation and buying of Lebanese groups by sending weapons and money to different groups within the state and outside of the government - intentionally circumventing the Government, Fed up with not having control over their own Freedom, Sovereignty, or Independence.
The Cedars Revolution PEACEFULLY demonstrated on March 14, 2005; again on March 14, 2006, and again during the Funeral of the late Sheikh Pierre Gemayel - with over 1 million demonstrators each time. The Lebanese in Lebanon and the 18 Million in the Diaspora are United in support of the democratic process in Lebanon. No one group - outside the Lebanese Army - should be armed, and this is called out in the Taef Accords, UN Resolutions 1559 and 1701; A prevention of Weapons flow from the Syrian border is a must, A True Preservation of the Country Lebanon, its Pluralistic Multiethnic Populous, and its Democratic Institutions.
Bottom line - The Iranian Backed and Iranian Funded "Opposition" must understand that they cannot force their will on the Lebanese Peoples desire to live freely under democracy. The Iranian Backed "Opposition" has lost significantly in the past weeks. Any further increase or escalation will erode their stance even more and invite a UN Chapter 7 Resolution to once and for all solve the problem of Iran and Syria arming and ordering militias in Lebanon to overthrow the Democratically Elected Government of Lebanon. The more the Iranian Backed "Opposition" attempts to increase pressures and play games with the future of Lebanon - the more they become noncredible, marginalized, disrespected and irrelevant in Lebanon and the World and the easier a Chapter 7 resolution will get passed.
The only clear choice for the Iranian Backed "Opposition" is to:
1. Voluntarily surrender all their arms to the Lebanese Army.
2. Voluntarily return to the Democratic Process - a Session of Parliament. Editor, Cedars Revolution News.
